Manager of Information Security

Job Summary: The successful candidate will oversee the Information Security requirements for all new IT projects and new and existing system implementations and the day to day management of the security programs and efforts.  The incumbent will be responsible for the management of information security risk assessments, project reviews and third party information security assessments and due diligence activities. He/she will work with IT and Risk & Compliance departments to ensure all necessary information security issues and controls are met and managed, ensure compliance with corporate security requirements and other regulatory assessments and ensure the creation, maintenance and monitory of effective security  procedures and operational guidelines.

Qualifications:          

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required or a significant level of experience in Information Security.
  • Significant level of experience in Information Security & Compliance.
  • Certified Information Security Management (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) certification or equivalent accreditation.
  • Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) certification
  • Excellent analytical ability, attention to detail and ability to manage cross-departmental teams.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, and resourceful and creative with solutions.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Understanding and experience with Information Security Compliance laws and regulations
  • Ability to communicate with all roles, levels, and positions within the division and company.
  • Ability to produce clear and effective written documentation.
  • Ability to work with and lead inter-departmental teams to communicate and enforce policies.
  • Ability to research and report on compliance laws and industry standards, trends and technologies, and ability to synthesize them into workable corporate policies.
  • Understanding of various regulatory, security, and IT controls such as PIPEDA, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, ITIL, COBIT.
  • High level understanding of network and server infrastructure technologies, such as routers, firewalls, and servers (Windows, Linux, etc.).
  • High level understanding of web based applications, web services, and middleware technologies.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in the insurance and financial services industry
  • The ideal candidate will need to effectively drive, manage, and influence projects and people to ensure that security objectives are implemented successfully.
